NEW CD RELEASE!
Sorina Aust-ioan
"...et in terra pax hominibus!".
Aus meinem Tagelbuch
Vol IV. Beethoven, Theodossiou, Kröll.
Studio Live Recording.
This album is her fourth “Tagebuch”. It records as well concatenations of different piano-works and piano-meetings day by day, discovering details, following traces and combining them to sequences or cycles. There are marks of homage, paraphrases, and acts of processing. Sorina Aust-Ioan’s “Diaries” gather piano-music in an open form and work in progress, but a form it is nevertheless. Each “Diary” contains a late Beethoven-sonata, because Georg Kröll called one of his “Diary”-compositions “Hommage à Ludwig van Beethoven” and assimilated certain rhythms and runs from the 2nd movement of op. 101. Shorter, still powerful peaces have an introductory or framing function. The present “Diary” starts with Ludwig van Beethoven’s late “Sechs Bagatellen” op. 126, six musical ‘trifles’ full of tenderness and temperament. In contrast, Panagiotis Theodossiou’s “Seven Bagatelles” are evoking full tragedy, ancient and modern: ferocious dances of Greek women to escape abuse, a contemporary work, dedicated to Sorina Aust-Ioan. Short pieces and nevertheless a monumental work in progress are the ‘entries’ in Georg Kröll’s “Tagebuch”, a homage to Arnold Schönberg: Echoes grow up, visions and recollections; one piece evokes another, even by a single tone, a quotation or vague association; the last entry “Deciso, con vivacità” is dedicated to Sorina Aust-Ioan. Beethoven’s late sonata op. 111, perhaps his most overwhelming work, is a tremendous confession, majestic, passionate, and sublime.
"Your 7 bagatelles are so perfect composed that the historical event from 1803 is life to hear and feel there , specially for me !
And I hope to give my feelings to the public! Thank you very much for the wonderful dedication !
I hope also you like my interpretation, because I have a little other dynamic imaginations …."

many thanks:

-To all members and fellow travelers of the PARODOS group of the Department of Theater Studies of the University of Patras
-To the composer Panagiotis Theodossiou who set PARODO to music respecting the rhythm and reason of the ancient text.
Presentation of PARODOU, "Oedipus the Tyrant" Sophocles
Parodos will be presented in ancient Greek based on the prosodic rhythm of the prototype (alternation of long & short syllables).
The present theatrical work aimed to investigate the relevance between quantitative rhythm (alternation of long & short syllables) and semantic development of the Parodo as well as the stage performance of the emotional states of the Dance through the rhythmic alternations of the original.
Passover case:
The Dance invokes the help of the gods to save the city from the pestilence and the miasma.

This year, The Friends of Music Society celebrates the 70th anniversary of its foundation. In the context of this anniversary and driven by its genuine interest in musical creation, the Society invited Greek composers, regardless of their age and level, to compose a one-minute miniature piece for solo piano. The purpose was to gather seventy works by as many composers as the Society’s years of activity. The invitation met with great enthusiasm and the entries far exceeded the anticipated number. The new works –posted on the Society’s Digital Library and freely available for use and musical performance– will be presented in two consecutive concerts at Megaron by pianists in their final year of studies at the Department of Music Studies of the University of Ioannina.

piano recital
by Sorina Aus-ioan in Vienna.
piano recital
by Sorina Aus-ioan in Vienna.
My last work "Seven Bagatelles" for piano solo op.88 will be performed by Sorina Aust-Ioan - Piano among work by L.v.Beethoven and G. Kroell on September, Friday 17, h.20:00, at Palais_Khevenhüller-Metschbased in Vienna.
The work is derived from the Toccata “Prylis” op.85, written for and dedicated to the famous piano soloist.
Seven short pieces based on the main musical material of the Toccata.
Some words about the work :
"Once upon a time in Ancient Greece, female warriors used to perform a severe and rhythmic dance called "Prylis". It was the sheer counterpart of the very well-known male war dance "Pyrrihios". In my imagination, "Prylis" was the dance performed in 1803, before the Greek Revolution, by women of Souli, a village of Hepiros in North-West Greece, while on the run of the Ottomans were thrown by themselves one by one from the cliffs of the mount Zalongo not to be captured and disgraced by them becoming a symbol of heroism and self-sacrifice over the years!"
"Your 7 bagatelles are so perfect composed that the historical event from 1803 is life to hear and feel there , specially for me !
And I hope to give my feelings to the public! Thank you very much for the wonderful dedication !"
(Sorina Aust-ioan, pianist)
Program
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827):
6 Bagatellen Op. 126
Panagiotis Theodossiou (*1964): 7 Bagatellen
Georg Kröll (*1934): "Aus meinem Tagebuch"
Ludwig van Beethoven: Sonate c-Moll, Op 111

Proud to participate in this wonderful project!
Panagiotis Theodossiou "Praise to Hellas"
("Ellados Egomion")
Music performance on the occasion of the celebration of the 200 years of Hellenic Nation's independence with many references to the music of Greece from antiquity to nowadays.
A musical ritual
with narration, screen projection,
and small instrumental ensemble.
“Praise to Hellas” is musical ritual which attempts to artistically recapture and emotionally move the attender, by narration, music and visual art, onto the long-lived Greek history. A history lost in the depths of ancienty, reaching to nowadays, penetrating time and leaving sacred memories, unfading, unique.
Milestones, watersheds of this attempt are the significant mythological and historical facts by which the single and undivided Greek past is sealed. Vehicle for this are the myths, fables and the tradition of this country.
Music and narration bear strongly the presence of the Greek element. The first often borrows and develops remarkable sound motifs of the precious past, melting them with contemporary vocabulary of the art of sound. The latter juxtaposes texts different in nature, conceptually and chronologically afar, projecting the inner relationship of historical unity between them.
Records from Ancient Greek and Byzantine literature in the original form, but in modern translation as well, fragments from folklore tradition in its characteristic dialect, scripts that give prominence to testimonies of historical facts of great moral depth.
